Victor City Mural Approved — Fundraising Under Way

Victor City Mural Working Comp

When I spent three months in Teton Village in 2015, I met former Victor mayor, Scott Fitzgerald, at a Silicon Couloir meeting. He described Victor, Idaho (population 2,088) with such enthusiasm, I was sold, and moved to Teton Valley with my family in March of 2016.

It took one round of golf with the current Victor Mayor Jeff Potter, to inspire civic involvement… which lead to my role in the Victor Placemakers Committee, and eventual board seat on the Victor Urban Renewal Agency.  While collectively discussing public art possibilities, another former mayor, Zachary Smith, came up with the brilliant idea to paint the stage in Victor City Park. With the help of my fellow Placemakers — Liv Goodale, Erin Gaffney and Molly Absolon… we built a mural proposal from the ground up… which was approved by City Council last week!

Public art is coming to Victor

Borbay To Live Paint Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole Eclipse Viewing Party

Borbay to Live Paint The 2017 Eclipse at Four Seasons Jackson Hole

TETON VILLAGE, WY — AUGUST 21, 2017 — Summer Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole Artist-In-Residence, Borbay, will live paint the once-in-a-lifetime eclipse during a private solar eclipse viewing party. From 9:00 to 2:00 PM, guests will sip Bloody Marys and mimosas at Rendezvous Lodge, 9,095 feet (2,772 meters) above Jackson Hole Valley, and safely view the eclipse through Teton Skies’ hydrogen-alpha solar telescopes.

Following twelve consecutive weeks of live painting at The Ascent Lounge, Four Seasons invited Borbay to capture this astrological phenomenon. “I can’t imagine a better place to paint and experience the eclipse. The top-secret painting I will complete at 9,095 feet is going to be extremely special, and, I suspect, unlike any eclipse painting you will discover. My summer at Four Seasons has been incredible — I’m thrilled and honored to be a part of this magical event.”

Borbay will share the creation process live on Instagram and Facebook during the eclipse.

Art Barre Soirée At Ski Barre, March 4, 2017, 7-9PM

Art Barre Soiree Poster March 4 2017 Jackson Hole

It began as… the sun was setting behind the Teton Mountains. A late summer chill descended upon the crowd, patiently witnessing a gentleman exhume, skin and dismember a lamb.  Soon, the performance became a barbecue. Huddling around a large fire spit, I turned to my left, extended a hand and introduced myself to David and Michelle Quinn. We discussed art, life and promised to continue the conversation over dinner. As our friendship blossomed, our circle expanded to include Avi Kantor, David’s partner, and Rachel Kantor, the owner of Ski Barre. On a freezing night in Victor, Idaho — we decided to collaborate on something special — a happening of our own. And so…

The Certior Group and Ski Barre invite you to… join us, on Saturday, March 4th, from 7-9pm at Ski Barre, for the first, one-night-only Art Barre Soirée. Peruse Borbay’s electric artwork, sip a signature Jackson Hole Still Works cocktail and mingle with fabulous people in Ski Barre’s breathtaking new studio.

2016 Year In Review — Western Destiny Realized

Borbay Self Portrait Painting 2016

If you would have told me, “man, you’ll be a married father-of-two, living in Idaho by your 36th year”… I’d have replied, “whatcha talkin’ bout”, and called you Willis.

Fittingly, 2016 began with my second self portrait — capturing this reality.  Artist selfies take longer.

Arco — The Great Atomic Carcass

Arco Idaho Throwdown © Borbay

The following is a true story… prose by Ryan Ariano… photos by Borbay…

It’s a disturbing thought, that somewhere in the Idaho high desert lurks a nuclear submarine, carrying the mark of the beast on its fin and the skeletons of Kruschev, Einstein, Oppenheimer, a forgotten city named Arco and a forgotten man named Zinn in its buried gut. For now the devil sub is frozen under moongrass, a small but vital relief for the burger joint standing at its bow. But you never know if, once the city has returned to dust and the vast Idaho winds have unearthed the great hulking corpse, it will set sail through the loam and finally off into the atomic sunset that had been promised here so long ago.
