Please allow me to introduce my latest portrait: Samantha Niemi. This painting is part of an exciting series commissioned by Sam’s Dad, Peter — here’s an excerpt from his blog:

When I was commissioned by Matt and Allison to create a Jackson Hole-inspired painting, they wanted me to experience things for myself, so it was wheels up, next stop Wyoming.

MH the Verb‘s new album, “The Balloon Guide”, drops February 11, 2014 — I painted the cover. If you’d like to keep reading, I’ll share how this project came to be creatively; and I’ll include the business details.

Visiting some galleries in late 2012 with his Wife Marla, a gentleman by the name of Robert Oringer who never considered himself an art guy/collector, had an epiphany moment. He saw some collage art and it got him thinking about the crazy collection of NY Post issues he had amassed over decades piles of NY Posts meticulously protected and stored away without any objective in mind. So he went to Google and began to search the Net for collage artists, one perhaps to convert his collection into art when he stumbled upon another Post fanatic yours truly.

I’m delighted to share my first completed painting of 2014: a commission of 55 West 11th Street in Manhattan. Ironically enough, I painted this in Minnesota.

Last night the ARTPROV team jumped into our trusty limo mini-van and set course for Connecticut. Our destination? The Second Annual Gala of the Cancer Support Community of Southern Connecticut emceed by New 12 Connecticut Anchor Gillian Neff at The Waterview. Major bonus? A slide show on mitochondria by Thomas Lynch, MD (not literally).

Creative collaboration is nourishment for the soul. So, when writer Duncan Larkin proposed we team-up for a series of ART-icles (horrible pun) on his resurrected Roads Mills Laps or RML blog, I was in. As it happens, his first subject is Olympian and Reckless Running brand ambassador Anthony Famiglietti — someone I’ve known and respected since 1992.

It’s Halloween, and here is what’s happening in my world… I’m back from Minnesota, and working on a new canvas… Neil’s Coffee Shop. It will join my growing ‘Back to the Futurism’ series. In fact, I’ve painted Neil’s before, but from a different angle and style.

Standing on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a legend. Built in 1941, the Grain Belt Beer Sign has been through a great deal… moving, going dark, being sold, vandalized, trivialized, lionized — and even more words with ized’ attached.

I’m delighted to share my commissioned portrait of Deborah Paul. I met Deborah three years ago on the Upper East Side while painting on the street. We stayed in touch, and last year, Deborah acquired my Guggenheim 4.
