2019… oh, what a year… Europe, Whistler, Vegas… portraits… a museum collection… New York press — let’s jump right in my very good friend.

You can move a New Yorker to Idaho… but the heart of a New Yorker is forever on the island of Manhattan. And, so, I was delighted to share my life story with New York Lifestyles Magazine!

Frederick Law Olmsted was a genius of unfathomable proportion. This gentleman saw the center of a bustling island, and envisioned 1.317 square miles of trees, hills, bridges, lakes and pathways — and invented Central Park.
Having spent 12 years living in Manhattan (10 of which, were on the Upper East Side) — The Park was my home away from home, through which I ran 1000’s of miles, played 100’s of hockey games, and spent countless hours exploring, thinking, enjoying… being connected to my inner self.
So, when longtime collector, Debbie Paul, commissioned me to create this 48″x56″ acrylic on canvas painting — it became a most welcome time warp… and, eventually, my greatest creative challenge to date. You can view the time lapse immediately above… and click onward for the stroke-by-stroke recap.
I spent the first 8 years of my adult life in the Upper East Side… so, it would seem fitting that my first painting started and completed in Minnesota would be this Upper East Side Town House. The source image was captured on the 4th of July… two days after my Independence Day — clandestine all around.
Introducing “Mindscape Guggenheim”, aka, “Guggenheim #7”. In 2009, I completed and swiftly sold a 30″X30″ painting of Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece. In 2010, I found myself longing to paint the Gugg once more, but two canvases of the same subject felt opportunistic — so I committed to painting a new 30″X30″ Guggenheim, each year, for the ensuing 19 years.
2014 was my finest year in every possible way. Coraline crawled, walked, ran… I traveled extensively to Jackson Hole, Vegas, LA, Chicago, Montreal, Vancouver, Miami, The Bahamas and Minnesota. It was a record year for sales, and, most importantly, the artistic fulfillment was deep.
It’s been an intense October. As the paint flies and the leaves color, crisp and fall — here’s what’s happening in my world… and beyond.
I met Michelle Javian through a friend, and after a five minute conversation, I donated my Sheep Meadow painting. Her charity, Harboring Hearts, is doing amazing things…
