Recently, I was commissioned by the fine folks at Advertising Week to create a Manhattan-centric collage-painting for their 8th Anniversary. To promote Advertising Week, they created an ad featuring my painting, which can be found in Bloomberg’s Business Week, AdWeek and Fast Company.

Manhattan Mural at Jake’s Saloon, West 57th Street and 10th Avenue, by Borbay & Penn

The owners of Jake’s Saloon commissioned Artist Jeremy Penn and yours truly to create an old-tyme Manhattan scene on the 11X26 foot exterior brick wall at their 875 10th Avenue location, at the North West corner of West 57th and 10th Avenue. We relished the opportunity to make our mark on the Manhattan landscape.
Advertising Week New York City Collage Painting
Three years ago, I was working as Business Director for Fantasy Interactive. At the time, my life revolved around clients, projects, proposals, SOW’s and presentations. Today, I paint for 4-7 hours a day and spend a solid 1-3 hours a day evangelizing, promoting and selling my work. This agency experience and my current role served as the catalyst for showing my #KingsOfHipHop art exhibition at the offices of Publicis Modem on 9/15.
A Portrait of Woody Allen Wishing He Was Someone Else
“My one regret in life is that I am not someone else” — Woody Allen. This, no doubt, is a perfect quote for Mr. Allen Stewart Konigsberg. Enjoy the process video below!
Painting Process Video, House of Haiku With MrJeffDess and Calvin Booker
Last night, The House of Haiku rocked-out the Brooklyn Historical Society in an hour-long show. MrJeffDess delivered inspiring, “80’s babies” haiku, while Calvin Booker provided not only the beats, but some Apollo Theater recognition-worthy tap dancing. Check out the video, and find out more about MrJeffDess.

Painting Process | Old Bay by Borbay
A good idea is a good idea, so when George Malley suggested I paint the Old Bay Seasoning can, I was all about it. It took one copy of the Baltimore Sun sent from Maryland and almost a year, but the painting is now complete. For these tastebuds, Old Bay is like candy, enhancing the flavor of anything it touches.
Painting Process | Marilyn Monroe, Andy Would Understand
A few years back, I was strolling along Madison Avenue when I happened upon an “up-scale” thrift store. There, perched high upon the wall was Blue Marilyn by Andy Warhol — a 25.5″X25.25″ reproduction shimmering in the low light. After no small amount of negotiations, $125 later I found myself with a fake Andy tucked under my arm, but six blocks from his old townhouse on Lex and 89th.
Borbay and Lankin Paint Live at Broadway Bares XXI: Masterpiece in Manhattan

Our Broadway Bares adventure began when Ari Lankin painted an impromptu tatoo on the arm of a Kriss Angel dancer in front of the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign. They suggested we paint live at Broadway Bares Las Vegas, which we did, at Planet Hollywood. A few weeks back, Ari received a call requesting the live-painting action for the fittingly named “Broadway Bares XXI: Masterpiece” at the Roseland Ballroom on Father’s Day (the Vegas installment was on Easter Sunday). And just like that, it was on.
