I’m delighted to share my first completed painting of 2014: a commission of 55 West 11th Street in Manhattan. Ironically enough, I painted this in Minnesota.

The biggest blizzard in NYC History dumped a record 26.9″ of snow on Central Park. That day, I set out to walk across the park from the Upper East, to the Upper West and back.

Last night the ARTPROV team jumped into our trusty limo mini-van and set course for Connecticut. Our destination? The Second Annual Gala of the Cancer Support Community of Southern Connecticut emceed by New 12 Connecticut Anchor Gillian Neff at The Waterview. Major bonus? A slide show on mitochondria by Thomas Lynch, MD (not literally).

Creative collaboration is nourishment for the soul. So, when writer Duncan Larkin proposed we team-up for a series of ART-icles (horrible pun) on his resurrected Roads Mills Laps or RML blog, I was in. As it happens, his first subject is Olympian and Reckless Running brand ambassador Anthony Famiglietti — someone I’ve known and respected since 1992.

Standing on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a legend. Built in 1941, the Grain Belt Beer Sign has been through a great deal… moving, going dark, being sold, vandalized, trivialized, lionized — and even more words with ized’ attached.

I’m delighted to share my commissioned portrait of Deborah Paul. I met Deborah three years ago on the Upper East Side while painting on the street. We stayed in touch, and last year, Deborah acquired my Guggenheim 4.

Life has been busy in our new hood… Coraline was born here on July 28th, and today, I finally got around to some Stuytown painting action. Many years ago, my great Uncle Mike lived here — such is the case, my Mom has fond memories of the Fountain — so what better to capture on a fine Saturday afternoon?

Last night, I hit up Sidewalk Cafe to live paint “BalloonUP presents THE SPIN”. Taking images sent in advance, I created a living collage of the action.

Another newsletter? You got that right. I'll honor and respect your inbox, as if it were my own. I endeavor to share everything happening at Borbay Studios & Gallery. No daily updates. No weekly updates. Simply a message, every month or two... updates on life, creativity, and the journey that began on July 2, 2009. Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
