
Following a beautiful decade in Manhattan, we decided to become nomads. Our first sojourn transpired in Minnetonka, Minnesota. For three glorious months, we painted, we fair’d, and yes, beautiful people… we bowled.

Before I threw our earthly possessions in a 17-foot-Uhaul and drove to Minnesota, I stopped by Domingo Zapata’s Gramercy Park studio for a long conversation… which is now live on Forbes.

On July 8th, our two-year lease expires, but we aren’t renting another apartment. Instead, Erin, Coraline, Vega and I are leaving Manhattan and going nomad. Here’s the story… beginning right after college.

It began with a cold call to Forbes back in 2011, asking for Zack O’Malley Greenburg. I had just completed my #KingsofHipHop portrait series, when I spotted his Cash Kings of Hip Hop list. Fortunately, Zack entertained my call, previewed the show and we became friends.

This afternoon, I was brunching with the ladies when I noticed this post on Instagram. If you didn’t hear, Jay Z and Beyoncé famously (and privately) toured the Louvre last week, and were photographed in front of the Mona Lisa. Thanks to a fine Photoshop job, my recently completed Nucky Thompson was framed and boom — meta. To answer many hot questions in one shot — Hip Hop’s Royal Couple did not acquire Nucky…
