Get your time lapse on, with some saucy lyrics courtesy of MH the Verb… whose new album cover I finished last week!

Began with a china marker sketch once again… only this time, I mauled “MOTEL” on the first go. So I drew it again, directly on top. Yes, my eyes hurt too.

Right into the blue… someone, accurately, pointed out the sign feels like the one from Bates Motel.

The actual sign hasn’t been lit in years — I couldn’t even find an image of it aglow online. So, I had to do some re-invention.

So I did a fairly extensive amount of work on the trees, leaves and sign structure. Alas, something happened… the studio lights were so bright, I pushed the area surrounding the glow so dark, it feels like a ghost.

There are no mistakes in art… and so, my Wilson Motel sign took on a haunting feel. If you stare at the pole directly below the “T” in “MOTEL”, you’ll see it begins to pop. Trippy! Take this baby home, and hey, come visit me next Saturday at the Ascent Lounge…

Another newsletter? You got that right. I'll honor and respect your inbox, as if it were my own. I endeavor to share everything happening at Borbay Studios & Gallery. No daily updates. No weekly updates. Simply a message, every month or two... updates on life, creativity, and the journey that began on July 2, 2009. Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
