Life has been busy in our new hood… Coraline was born here on July 28th, and today, I finally got around to some Stuytown painting action. Many years ago, my great Uncle Mike lived here — such is the case, my Mom has fond memories of the Fountain — so what better to capture on a fine Saturday afternoon?
Here is the entire process in just under one minute… sound track rolling hard thanks to Kuf Knotz.
Getting set-up… 12″X12″ Canvas. Easel. Sun. Fountain. Sparkling water. Forgot the suntan lotion… a move I will pay for tomorrow.
A little piece of Rothko underneath every painting — I believe this could be an effective campaign strategy.
Getting right into the building, painting bricks way early, but I figured, I can paint bricks whenever I want.
Swirly sky, blotchy trees, oval fountain, getting something that now resembles a composition.
I don’t get to paint fountains often, so when I do, I try to make them extra fountainy.
Getting my green on… not that type of green challs.
A finished painting from a small distance, to illustrate the intensity of the sun.
There she is, all resting on the easel. Toward the end of the day, Erin, Coraline and Jeanne stopped by with a pulled pork sandwich. Yes, I am the luckiest man alive.
And here it is, the pride of Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town. A fine day to be out, and I’m pleased to report I met some wonderful people.
If you’d like to add this 12″X12″ painting to your collection, don’t hesitate to snap it up on Square. One love.
