Teton Springs — A Painting Of The 15th Hole

Teton Springs 15th Hole Painting by Borbay

The 15th Hole at Teton Springs brings the temptation. From the tee box, you can see the pin, 269 yards in the distance… surrounded by water and sand traps. Should you drive the green, you are looking at an eagle putt… if you miss, that first penalty stroke is easily followed by another, and another.

So, in other words, the forbidden fruit of 15, coupled with the iconic Rammell Barn proved the perfect hole to capture on canvas.

Here is the entire painting process, inside of one minute. Thank you Tin Pan for the perfect soundtrack!

After a brief underpainting, I found myself live painting at The Grille… the sweet bar and restaurant at Teton Springs. This was my first official engagement as Artist-In-Residence…

This is the progress made during that live session (thank you to everyone who joined the fun). Nailing down the color fields and secondary tones was important.

Creating distance was key… the mountains were painted lighter, the foothills, darker but still hazy… the barn, popping with highlights… the fairway splashed with sun… bunker, carefully combed…

Now we are talking. The flag is starting to pop… all that remains are the fine details.

And boom! My first golf painting… many more to come. I’m stoked to be the AIR at Teton Springs, and cannot wait to share more… speaking of…

Here is the Rammell Barn…

And, in silhouette. Does this barn look familiar?

Indeed, I have created a 40″X40″ painting of this bad boy — which is now on display at Teton Springs.

Ah, the 10th hole… so close, yet so very far.

The Rusty Putter, a perfect spot to load up the cart with a few cold ones to soften the blow of that first double bogey.

Can’t beat this light… I once hit a bird on this par-5, and I will never stop telling people about it.

That’s right, I’ll be back live painting at The Grille on July 18th! Be there… Brayden will curate the wine, Gannon will pour the cocktails and Reuben will deliver the delicious eats. Speaking of good times…

We had a blast at the July 3rd Clam Bake! My folks, Kathie and Steve, and Uncle and Aunt, Brian and Aleen, joined us.
