Oh Vegas, you never disappoint. This years adventure was epic in all the right ways… Paint, friends, shows, lots of neon, a few cocktails, a Bachelorette party (sorry, no pictures, that’s the rules)…

2017 — what a year! Our family grew by one, with the addition of our son Esser. I spent the summer painting in Teton Village, created many paintings and even went snowshoeing! It was major… let’s take it from the top, with a time warp back to January…

The Art Association has made visual art a vital part of creative life in Jackson Hole for over 53 years. The staff, board, instructors, and volunteers provided visual art experiences to over 21,000 people last year, including 228 low income or at-risk youth and outreach sessions for 23 different service organizations in the valley.
Hold on, back up, what is this and how did we get here? Let’s go back to 2014, and take it from the top.
“You said you’d never paint animals!”
“I never said that.”
Actual quote from the Jackson Hole News & Guide, “There’s this notion of Western art and these traditional scenes with cowboys and Indians and I feel like the same bear and wolf have been painted maybe a thousand times,” (Borbay) said. “I love signage. I’m a city guy at heart. I want to bring my vision here. I’m not going to go and start painting just a bunch of straight-up animal scenes to cater to the market.”
Mmmm, those words are delicious. And so is the mythological Jackalope.
