Recently, I was commissioned by the fine folks at Advertising Week to create a Manhattan-centric collage-painting for their 8th Anniversary. To promote Advertising Week, they created an ad featuring my painting, which can be found in Bloomberg’s Business Week, AdWeek and Fast Company.

Advertising Week New York City Collage Painting
Three years ago, I was working as Business Director for Fantasy Interactive. At the time, my life revolved around clients, projects, proposals, SOW’s and presentations. Today, I paint for 4-7 hours a day and spend a solid 1-3 hours a day evangelizing, promoting and selling my work. This agency experience and my current role served as the catalyst for showing my #KingsOfHipHop art exhibition at the offices of Publicis Modem on 9/15.
Two Year Anniversary of Being a Professional Artist
Exactly two years ago, I declared my independence and became a full-time “Professional Location Artist” my longest career to-date. Since then, I’ve had the honor of being named Time Out New York’s Most Creative New Yorker 2009, secured and delivered over 50 commissions, painted 162 canvases, and created on-location in Manhattan, Milan, Chicago, Minnesota, Las Vegas and Jamaica.
Painting Process | The Guggenheim #3
It began in 2009… my first Guggenheim painting. Then in 2010, I decided to do it again… same location and canvas size… after #2, I decided to paint The Guggenheim every June for 20 years. Beyond being one of my favorite places in the city, this will allow me to see my style progression in a consistent way. After the jump, process shots of The Guggenheim #3.

Painting Process | The Depot Minneapolis
Every now and again, you have to let the beast out of the cage to roam free through the wilderness. As an artist, that beast is experimentation. With this painting of The Depot, in Minneapolis, I decided to merge two collage techniques I have been working on: Photo Transfer, and New York Post Headline collage-painting.
Ryan Gander Doesn’t Know or Trust Me Because I Have Business Cards
If an artist paints a beautiful picture, and nobody sees it, is it still beautiful? Friend and fellow artist Ari Lankin passed along this snippet from an interview between Hans-Ulrich Obrist and artist Ryan Gander which I must address.
Painting Process | Guggenheim Redux – Target Tony Hayward
At this point, I am just going to say it – I like the Guggenheim. Following my recent paintings of the Apple Store, Museum of Art and Design and First Avenue – Minneapolis, I decided to take my New York Post collage work to Frank Lloyd Wright‘s masterpiece.
Painting Process | Guggenheim Completed
After three intensive outings, and numerous stages – the Guggenheim painting is now complete. After the jump, you will see the entire process from first to last stroke. A special thank you goes out to the Guggenheim and the Gothamist for promoting this piece.
