So You Paint Houses?
Many conversations begin the same way, “so you’re a painter? House painter or an artist?”

So You Paint Houses?

Back in 2007, I was working as a Creative Recruiter at Update Graphics. One day, my colleague Kimberly introduced me to Justin Brock Schantz, then the Managing Director at Fantasy Interactive. Over several months, we got to know one another, and eventually, I ended up joining Justin at FI.
I’m pleased to release my latest commission: The Chrysler Building at Magic Hour. This painting was based on a series of photographs taken from the Rare rooftop bar one fine, late-spring evening.
The Paulding County Progress penned this terrific piece about my commissioned painting of the Paulding County Carnegie Library. On Easter Sunday, 2011, I was painting the El Cortez Hotel on Fremont Street in Las Vegas alongside fellow artist Ari Lankin. That day, a woman named Susan Pieper stopped by and asked if she could take a couple of action photos. We agreed, and I added, “it would be great if you can send those over if you have a chance.”
And without further adieu: the final piece on the Larchmont series: Berry’s Favorite Place.
2011 began true and proper with HOV… a work of art, a Warhol (already). He was both the first of my #KingsOfHipHop, and the first painting of the year.
Here is the second painting in my Larchmont, New York commissioned series for the wonderful Hoffman family. This particular 24″X30″ canvas is painted from the perspective of sitting in the hot tub… and is aptly entitled, “Laura’s Favorite Place”.
After raising two children over 30 years, the Hoffman family has placed their house on the market. So, being commissioned to paint their storied home — theFlag House in Larchmont, New York was a special project. To truly comprehend the warm memories of this special place, I had the pleasure of spending an evening at the house, grilling, swimming and chatting with the family.
Sometimes recreating a place, experience and moment in time requires the marriage of multiple images. Since I was unable to travel to Romania to paint University Square in person, we had to get creative.

Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
