2015 — Borbay’s Year In Review

2015 was so huge, it took me until mid-January to post the year-in-review! The game changer? On February 5th, at 7:45AM, Vega arrived aquatically in our Manhattan living room… joining Erin, Coraline and me. One month later, she had a passport and was living in The Bahamas… we then left Manhattan, moved to Minnesota, then to Jackson Hole, and back to Minnesota…

It was a magical three months in Jackson Hole. The country was gorgeous, and inspiration ran deep. Early in our adventure, we took a trip to Teton National Park… there, I captured a moment of Coraline taking in the majestic Tetons.

I had the great honor of painting the late Kenneth Francis Begasse’s portrait. Affectionately known as “Senior”, the piece was commissioned by Michael Sanzen, partner at Concentric Healthcare Experience, as a gift for Senior’s family. The work and process were transformed into a beautiful mural, which was unveiled at their TriBeCa headquarters last week.

I had the honor of painting this view from the Four Seasons Jackson Hole, as their Artist-In-Residence. The canvas itself is 10″X20″. The medium? Acrylic.

I’ve always been fairly obsessed with neon signage… hence my numerous trips to Las Vegas. In downtown Jackson Hole, you can spot several glowing gems, such as the oft-painted Cowboy Bar… and the Antler Inn. There is something about a dramatic sign in the night sky.
