Atelier Klimat Event Photos — Living NYC Artists Mingle With The Living

Atelier Klimat A Group Exhibition

As seen in BlackBook and Max’s Kansas City, Atelier Klimat‘s opening reception began at 7PM and carried on late into a stormy Manhattan evening that saw lightening strike the Empire State Building thrice. A terribly good-looking crowd braved said storm to soak up the art and atmosphere of Klimat, a premier East Village establishment.

Painting Process | Piata Universitatii in Bucharest

University Square in Bucharest

Sometimes recreating a place, experience and moment in time requires the marriage of multiple images. Since I was unable to travel to Romania to paint University Square in person, we had to get creative.

Painting Process | Snoop Dogg Throwin Signs Language

Snoop Dogg Collage Painting by Borbay

Anyone who has listened to hip hop since the early 90’s probably has a complex set of feelings about Snoop Dogg, even if they don’t know it. It wasn’t until I threw down the paint that I realized this to be true. From the monster classic Gin and Juice, to the lesser known, dark tracks like my favorite I Can’t Swim, to some Huggy Bear, Old School cameo ish.

Painting Process | Triboro Bridge Commission

Triboro RFK Bridge Painting by Borbay

In a move of great fiscal responsibility, the city renamed the Triboro to the RFK Bridge. While I don’t agree with Koching every bridge in a money-hemorrhaging city, I do enjoy painting them. In fact, this commissioned picture was based on a previous Triboro painting I created.

Target Practice Painting by Borbay

Regardless of your stance, if you want to fire some rounds, all you have to do it head over to the West Side Pistol and Rifle. There, you pay, shoot, and take out the stresses of your daily life.

My Bride and Yours Truly in The Metro, Kissing in Times Square

Erin Hessel and Jason Borbet in The Metro

Talented scribe Cristina Velocci contacted my fiancée Erin about soul mates for a piece in the Metro. When Erin told me, I instantly remembered Cristina from Time Out New York, having painted in their West Side Office.

Painting Process | Diddys Dirty Money White Party

Diddy Collage Painting by Borbay

Diddy is a businessman, he is a business, man. He’s been Made. Diddy was Puffy. Puff Daddy. P-Diddy (still is in Europe.) Sean Combs. He may change his name more frequently than NYC cops cuff a weed head, but his hip-hop watermark is indelible.
