I’m Now A Forbes Contributing Writer

It began with a cold call to Forbes back in 2011, asking for Zack O’Malley Greenburg. I had just completed my #KingsofHipHop portrait series, when I spotted his Cash Kings of Hip Hop list. Fortunately, Zack entertained my call, previewed the show and we became friends.
Mindscape Vega — Abstraction

Four days after my second Daughter, Vega Keanne, was born, I began a new ‘Mindscape’ painting. It began with a free-hand, free-association line drawing. Once the drawing was completed, I painted colors devoid of specific thought. The experience is both cathartic and exciting.
The Lincoln Memorial — A Collage Painting by Borbay

Henry Bacon’s Lincoln Memorial delivers a theatrical synergy between art and architecture. The terrace walls and lower steps comprise granite blocks from Massachusetts – the upper steps, exterior facade, and columns contain marble blocks from Colorado – the interior walls and columns are Indiana limestone – the floor is pink Tennessee marble – the ceiling tiles are Alabama marble – and the Lincoln statue comprises 28 pieces of Georgia marble.
2014 — Year in Review on Canvas and Beyond

2014 was my finest year in every possible way. Coraline crawled, walked, ran… I traveled extensively to Jackson Hole, Vegas, LA, Chicago, Montreal, Vancouver, Miami, The Bahamas and Minnesota. It was a record year for sales, and, most importantly, the artistic fulfillment was deep.
December Update: Serena, Boss, Babies

Dear Friends, Family, Collectors and Fans — 2014 has been my finest year, and I owe you a debt of gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The easel has been on fire…

Cyber Monday is Not An Art Thang

Brilliant retailers created Black Friday in the early 2000’s the idea? Offer ridiculous sales to generate a frenzy of opportunistic buyers. On Thursday you give thanks. On Friday, you beat up your neighbor for cheap Spanx… and a flatscreen. Not to be outdone by it’s food court counterparts, in 2005 the online retailers said, “Have your Black Friday, we’ll offer Cyber Monday with better deals and free delivery.”
Mindscape, Cubic Abstraction on Canvas

Have you ever seen an abstract painting and wondered what the hell the artist was thinking? Well, here are my thoughts on the process of abstract painting. The title of this piece is “Mindscape” — but I’ll get into that later. It’s 20″X20″, Acrylic on Canvas.
Borbay Paints The Boss — Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen. The Boss. 48″X48″ of collage and paint capturing a living icon. Reflected in his glasses… younger versions of himself. In the jacket? A visual representation of his inspirations, ideals and important places. Just as many songs make an album, many words and images make a portrait.

Another newsletter? You got that right. I'll honor and respect your inbox, as if it were my own. I endeavor to share everything happening at Borbay Studios & Gallery. No daily updates. No weekly updates. Simply a message, every month or two... updates on life, creativity, and the journey that began on July 2, 2009. Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
