My fascination with neon continues… introducing, the Snow King Motel… a glowing gem, nestled at the foot of Snow King mountain.

Before I left Teton Village in December, I made note of this sign. As it happens, I found myself strolling by on an unseasonably warm day in March, armed with my camera. Yes I did. I shot em’.
And now… the entire process, captured in time-lapse, and narrated by yours truly.

Stark, basic outlines… capture the gesture and go.

Orange you glad to see an underpainting? Don’t roll your eyes at me.

Mmmm… cadmium red medium for good measure.

I loved the natural cloud drama… so I went with it.

Drawing the letters, and blacking out the rest… time-consuming, but necessary… and since I’m a Virgo… fun.

Really focusing on the spectrum of glowing tones… there are many strange colors to behold… grey, purple, pink, mint green.

Once those tubes are popped and the reflective light hits the trees… it’s time to sign. I share this photo to contrast with the professional capture by my local go-to, Jeffrey Kaphan.

Boom! I’m delighted to report, I have another gigantic neon (4’X4′) of the 4-Winds under way… as well as four commissions. More to come.

No weekly updates. Simply a message, every month or two... updates on life, creativity, and the journey that began on July 2, 2009. Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
