Hello Dear Friend — Two weeks ago, we stuffed a 17-foot-truck, turned in the keys to our Manhattan apartment and hit the road. Our nomadic adventure has begun with a three-month stay in Minnetonka, Minnesota. On September 30th, we fly to Jackson Hole for another adventure — but here’s what’s happening right now…

1. Guggenheim # 7
In 2009, I painted Frank Lloyd Wright’s Manhattan masterpiece — the Guggenheim. One year later, I committed to painting the Gugg’ each year, for 20 years. This years painting (#7) is titled “Mindscape Guggenheim” — only 13 years to go.

2. Officially Nomadic
Last months big announcement has come to fruition — we are officially nomadic. And now for the recap of part one — the harrowing drive from Manhattan to Minnetonka.

3. Dear Jagger
I had the honor of painting Jagger’s portrait — the late, beloved Wheaton Terrier.

4. A Proper Slant
In 2011, I unveiled my first cohesive body of work: seven portraits entitled the #KingsOfHipHop. Before I left Manhattan, I sat down with Abigail Struhl at Slant to discuss the #Kings, art, appropriation and authenticity.
5. And The Rest
Andy Warhol once said, “good business is the best art” — the rise of the independent artist reflects this notion. Here are my two latest Forbes posts, covering art business:
It’s fabulous to be back in the Minnetonka studio, working alongside my Father-in-Law Tom Hessel. Would you like to receive these updates directly before they are published online? Groovy.
Much love from Minnetonka… more to come.
