Introducing my fourth Art Exuma painting — “Mindscape Exuma Shadow”.
The idea for this painting occurred when I spotted this dramatic shadow cast over Mindscape Exuma Blue. It sent the wheels turning, and on the island, there are no traffic lights.

Here is the entire process in a minute, soundtrack courtesy of The Bergamot. Be sure to snap-up their fabulous forthcoming album Tones — you can pre-order here.
It begins with a drawing… I decided one of those lines didn’t belong, so I x’d it out.
It finally happened… a blue underpainting.
Plotting the oranges… artist Tina Duryea said this stage looks like an arial view of The Islands… great observation.
Orange into yellow into green… colors you see everywhere in The Bahamas. I waited until 5:18pm, and traced the shadow.
Now, it was time to turn out the lights… in the shadowy areas. I considered calling this piece “Exuma Shade” — but then, I remembered, shade.
Welcome home contrast. From here, I decided to repaint all of the blues, and everything falling inside the shadow.
Crisping up those lines… getting close.
And, Mindscape Exuma Shadow… completed. Up next? I’ll be revisiting the painting I started at Santana’s. Stay tuned Art Exuma fans.
