2014 was my finest year in every possible way. Coraline crawled, walked, ran… I traveled extensively to Jackson Hole, Vegas, LA, Chicago, Montreal, Vancouver, Miami, The Bahamas and Minnesota. It was a record year for sales, and, most importantly, the artistic fulfillment was deep.
Let’s take a dive into the year that was.
Now back to all that MH the Verb talk… here is the album cover I painted for his big release: The Balloon Guide.
Complex was kind enough to show the collaboration some love, thank you Complex.
The frequent connection between painting and music lead to this interview with ‘Music on Walls‘. “Music and Art. Hearing and Seeing. Both modes of expression are sensory, experiential, complimentary and visceral.”
Had a blast hanging with Matt and his Family, even though I would soon fly over the handle bars of this snowmobile at 60mph.
Here I am with Zack…
And at the book launch party… Forbes HQ (RIP).
The book was huge in Italy.
This collaboration was covered by The Grio…
Then it was on to my Fourth Solo Exhibition: The Futurism. The website is hosted by Wix, a fantastic partner and epic supporter of the arts.
A Life in the Day of Andrea found the show riveting…
Before my show opened at the Wix Lounge, I participated on a small business panel… The Urban Coin spread the love.
With everything in motion and many questions flooding my inbox about collecting art… I decided to write about the value of Studio Visits.
In 2014, I did my best to respond to excellent questions in-depth… when someone asked about buying artwork over time, I did just that.
So do I travel with my electric toothbrush? Bruh. You have to ask? Next? Los Angeles with Zack to hang out with some good people… before hitting up the Hills for an extensive night of partying with folks including, but not limited to, a famous set of brothers who were just kicked out of a swingers party by a legendary action star… I painted the view from Perch.
All this LA action caught the attention of former pro-wrestler turned entertainer… and so… Falcon called me one day as I strolled along the East River.
Oh… and LA Mag was all about it… strong connection.
Many moons ago, I was an advertising executive. That term, by the way, is so far reaching, I’d estimate there are 250,000+ people who carry this title at any given moment in NYC. The Antiheroes continued with everyone’s favorite fashionable womanizer — Don Draper.
Added Draper bonus? Fabulous photographer Derek Van Oss rolled through the studio to snap some shots. Thank you for the connection Munish… a friend from my advertising days. Full circle.
I secured the position of Left Out in the Artists-Writers softball game in the Hamptons. It was for the best, really, I had pulled a hammy in a Forbes softball game while rounding third base. As someone who ran for a living, I was deeply offended by this injury… and so, I’ve been rehabbing for next year. Sorry Zack, we are going to take you pesky writers down once again.
A fan Photoshopped my Nucky in the Louvre with Jay and Bey… this created quite the whirlwind, so I decided to elaborate.
Curbed gave the Pepsi canvas a shout.
Discovering a rare week of downtime in Minnesota, I got to work in Tom’s studio on this Cubic Mindscape.
Now that you can buy art online everywhere, the topic of discounts has become more intriguing. My take? Cyber Monday is for refrigerators and flat screens, not art.
Thank you for an amazing year everyone. Love and appreciation — Borbay.
