Introducing my latest painting: a portrait of Angelina Jolie. She will be joining Mickey O’Pitt in a new collection… together in life, together in art.

Here is the entire process captured in Time Lapse… the soundtrack features the song “Coraline” — written and performed by MH the Verb, featuring Jules… my new favorite song.
This was the smoldering inspiration for this painting. A deeply provocative pose, no doubt.
Once the headlines are selected, it’s all about trimming them to form, which is a time consuming, but worthwhile.
Green and red… the Christmas of complements, clashing boldly… for now.
Warhol Marilyn’s for eyes… getting into the shadows straight away…
Painting with a size one brush… many layers = many hours.
After nailing down the deepest darks, I went in for the brightest lights…
Working flesh tones around the canvas… I had most of the shapes formed appropriately, but the image required more punch…
Deep red gradient in the background… plus the white of the eyes. This is where the painting is beginning to make sense.
Now the long re-painting journey begins… deep reds first. All the colors in Angelina’s skin are mixed with a touch of Pthalo Blue Green Shade, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Medium and Titanium White.
When I get to a point like this, the picture is interesting enough to call it a day… however, being a Virgo, once I set my sights on a path, I must see it through.
Warming up the composition… repainting the entire body was the right call… I wanted the palette to match her look.
And here she is! Angelina Jolie, the Collage Painting.
Angelina joins Brad.
And for kicks… the painting hanging on the exterior wall of a Manhattan building. This resulted in some interesting car interactions.
