Back in November I spent a day at Bay Shore High School hosting a location drawing and collage workshop. Each of the two sessions included a brief presentation, an on-location drawing, a critique and then a collage technique overview. After the jump, a few shots from a fine afternoon in academia.
Getting set-up in the hallway, Bay Shore HS has some beautiful windows… it’s amazing how interesting views you pass daily without a second notice can be.
For the artists out there, can’t you just feel the vine charcoal on your hands? A nice drawing from a floor perspective.
A brief moment to put the finishing touches.
Critiquing the drawings. When you don’t teach all the time, you come to realize and respect how critical rhythm and pacing is…
Another window drawing, cool photograph as well.
A view of the Romanesque facade of Bay Shore High School.
Demonstrating various collage techniques while the students begin to explore on their own. Thank you Bay Shore High School for having me, in particular Margaret Schultz, Beth Capodanno and Laura Moakley. I have tremendous respect for this art program, they do an exceptional job, routinely going above and beyond. My high school art teacher Mrs. Livesey was a major inspiration to yours truly and countless others — the benefits of a passionate educator are immeasurable.
