My beer league goalie Ken Devine recently proposed to his lovely lady named Erin, who is from Wisconsin. Prior to their engagement, I offered to lurk in the shadows of Belvedere Castle to capture the moment on camera. Initially, Ken said that would be “creepy”, but after speaking with Erin’s Mom, he realized photos were probably a good idea.
Erin’s from the Midwest are all the rage, as I too have recently become engaged to my Erin from Minnesota (more to come on that in another post).
Peace Projects, Marathons, cousins and other hot updates abound.
MAY PEACE BE WITH YOUR BOOKSHELF
Back in August, fellow artist and hetero-hot-tub-time pal Jeremy Penn alerted me to The Whole 9’s Peace Project.
Jeremy‘s work, “War Child”, was a big winner in the exhibit, taking home the Peacemaker award (the darker portrait on the right hand side of the page above with the red square at the upper right hand corner).
I submitted a work which didn’t make the exhibit cut… it did, however, grace the pages of The Peace Project Book (front and center). It’s always nice to see your work in print.
26.2 in NYC
My cousin Bobby Borbet and his wife Amy paid us a visit this weekend. As it happens, Bobby’s UNC track/cross country teammate Shalane Flanagan placed second in the NYC Marathon. We were on hand to cheer.
Here is Amy and Bobby, preparing to give Shalane some good ol’ fashioned hollerin’ on Fifth Avenue.
And here is a shot of moving humanity as they run by First Avenue.
RECENT WORKS
In case you missed the announcement, check out The College Board project that kept me busy for a few months. Stay tuned for photos from The Forum in DC.
Get your Hakker Short Film Festival on — and don’t forget to submit a film next year.

Another newsletter? You got that right. I'll honor and respect your inbox, as if it were my own. I endeavor to share everything happening at Borbay Studios & Gallery. No daily updates. No weekly updates. Simply a message, every month or two... updates on life, creativity, and the journey that began on July 2, 2009. Let's be in touch, as the first leg of my quest reaches completion in 2026. From a studio in my 600-foot Upper East Side apartment living room, to a museum collection. Oh, but friend, that is just the beginning. The road is long, and I am looking for cool, sophisticated company to navigate each challenging turn.
You're here, and I love you for it.
