Ah, that Four Seasons Jackson Hole view… I had the great fortune of setting-up my easel to capture the legendary slopes for a second time…

Here is the entire process captured in time lapse… that soundtrack? Yes, MH the Verb is spectacular. Do read on friend…
A black ground on the canvas, white snow on the ground…
Stepping away from the studio is rare these days, so when I’m out in the wild, I let the paint flow like the salmon of Capistrano…
And flow it did! After a quick sketch, I began greying out my first strokes.
After identifying some key elements, out came the blacks and payne’s greys… tree line? Tower? Building? Teewinot? Jackpot.
That ambiance though.
As you can see in the video… the light shifted dramatically with waves of heavy snow. At points, the mountains vanished.
Here, feeling close… I wanted to add some splashes of red, inverse line work and some subtle snow action.
Sitting down, taking in the work before the final strokes… my good friend Matt Swanson and his son stopped by for a chat… always good times.
Oh yes… this is when I knew we were in the money.
A Pako’s victory dance? You bet.
And voila! The unparalleled Four Seasons Jackson Hole view… painted. Want to see this in-person?
It will be on display at the first Art Barre Soirée, this Saturday!
Here is my late 2015 version of the same view. Will this be a new Guggenheim series? Time will tell. Thank you Nina, Hope, Igor and the entire Four Seasons team — it’s an honor and a privilege to work with you!
