My second piece inspired by the NY Post – this time, a tragedy. The Taconic Crash was front page news for several weeks. Imagine, the facts, details and statistics of one final act can trump an entire existence. Process after the jump.
Setting up shop in my sprawling studio, NY Post Masthead guiding the way.
Drawing in the letters with the greatest of accuracy. This was one of those “do I stencil or do I hand draw?” moments – I chose the latter.
Don’t forget those angled drop shadows son!
Almost red from the tube, love painting with cadmium red as the Super Troopers keep a mindful eye.
Stroke. Stroke. Stroke. Stroke.
Getting in the red, liking the marks… now wait for it… wait for it…
Pollock slash Dexter Morgan Splatter!
Golden Post, is good post.
Getting the drop shadows with a deep deep red.
Another layer with a shade closer to alizarin crimson.
Second red layer completed.
Here comes yet an even darker shade of red.
B.A.C. THC Gross Incapacitation.
Half cross out the details, because they only tell part of the story.
Completed. Thank you Tony Black for the name suggestion.
