Sunday, May 13, 2007: 9:34pm: A tribute to a great friend.

Finishing my Sophomore year of college, I didn't know what to do. After a few conversations with friends, I decided to give summer campus tours at the BU Office of Admissions a try. My first day was foreign to me: well-to-do ladies chatting amongst themselves about their futures ...I felt lost.

That was until a young gentleman with a chiseled "Kennedy-style" jaw and crisp shirt sauntered into the room. I took a look at this young go-getter and said, "Damn man, how in the world did you get your shirt so crisp?"

"Corn starch dawg. How are you? The name's Andy Bacevich."

And thus, I met a great friend. During our first week of work, our boss Irina erroneously trusted Andy (whom I later dubbed C-Biz, can't tell you why, but I felt it suited him) and myself to guide a tour.

Well, our hour long tour turned into a two hour discourse on the "Castle being BU's answer to the Playboy Mansion" and various other shenanigans. Needless to say, this little trip solidified our friendship.

That summer was thing of beauty. C-Biz, me and S.O.B. were inseparable and we met each others friends and spent our days partying, talking and enjoying life. That fall we spent many of our weekends together.

C-Biz had a place on Baystate Road. This was our base of good times. He was the hub of party, and a guy who opened his door to friends any time, any day, 24/7.

Andy celebrated his 23rd birthday shown here brandishing the lovely "birthday banana" I made for him.

A couple of cagey rookies from Bellricca!

He made this small split-studio feel like home to so many people.

I mean, this picture is a bit ridiculous.

This is easily my favorite picture of the Biz! This is who he is. The party starter. The guy who makes a moment with the propensity to be dull into a life-altering moment. He is the one who makes you realize that you are alive. That is the Biz.

A trio we made. The three of us once hi-jacked a campus tour and gave them the "un-official-official" BU campus tour. They were from California. We stapled "tour guide" signs to our shirts and went on our way. Afterwards we bought two cases of PBR and put them to bed before 8pm. It was a luscious hangover.

Surprisingly, it didn't always come down to academics. We had a classy side.

Being the trooper that he is, C-Biz ran the Boston Marathon. To show my support, I gave him my high school nationals jersey which I wore when I secured my college scholarship and got All-American.

Even a friends support can only go so far when you can't get the photo off in time and you are tired as shit at mile 25!

Learning to fly.

Despite freezing our asses off in Boston, we always managed to have a sweet, sweet good time.

I once painted/collaged a portrait from this picture for Andy. He may have kept it or not: I don't know. Either way, look at this All American, chiseled, handsome gentleman.

The Biz has always been a focal point for my art work.

A true party maverick.

A happy Andy.

Kurt Vonnegut says, "so it goes".

My good friend fought for all of us to enjoy the creature comforts we enjoy at this very moment.

I say, "I miss you C-Biz, and you will always be with me."
